Children With EFT
We all carry with us frustrations and negative energies that preoccupy us, even if not on a conscious level. That will have all sorts of negative effects on our health and our feeling of well-being. Children are no different in that – in fact, often it can be worse for children. They often have less freedom in their lives than adults do, and when you couple that with the knowledge that children often have not yet developed the communications tools to express themselves well – it’s no wonder that children have their positive energies blocked and their tempers seem to descend into meltdown.
The emotional freedom technique can help with this in all sorts of ways – both physical and mental. Children can benefit from the emotional freedom – either using the EFT tapping routine themselves or by having an adult help them with the healing. It will help whether they are angry, upset or just plain ill! You can of course – and should – teach children to use the EFT tapping routine for themselves; but as a parent, grandparent, carer etc – you too can help the child with EFT therapy.
Have you ever noticed how when children find something difficult to talk about, they will often talk through a toy? You can use this to great effect with the EFT tapping routine for children. You can use your inner energy to help them and the tapping routine will help to free up the child’s routine. If a child is very small, or uncooperative, surrogate EFT tapping can be used. Surrogate tapping involves an EFT therapist or a parent doing the tapping on him- or herself whilst repeating statements about the child’s issue. The adult can say something like “My name is (child’s name), and even though I am having problems with throwing tantrums, I deeply and completely accept myself.”
To effectively help a child in this way with the Emotional Freedom Technique, you have to distance yourself to some extent, but still feel their distress. You must control your feelings whilst you are healing, so that you do not also become angry and upset, which will focus your energies destructively back inside you again, instead of projecting them out positively to heal the child. But you can do this for a child you love. Show them the emotional freedom technique and you have given them a great gift for life.
A number of parents are so supportive of EFT for children because it doesn’t involve prescription drugs for issues, or any other form of medical intervention. EFT is a safe way to get to the root of your child’s issue and treat it gently but effectively. Any problem a child is having can be linked to a deeper issue: a fear of abandonment, or anger about criticism or bullying. EFT for children works to reveal these issues and treat them in a positive way, so that children and parents can enjoy their lives.
